Although Versilia is also blessed with unspoiled and wild beaches (for example discover Lecciona beach by bike), much of Italian seaside life takes place at the bagni. These organized beach clubs cover a large portion of the coast and usually consist of a simple shack (often doubling as a restaurant and bar), some cabins to change in, and regimented rows of umbrellas and loungers. Most Italian families are habitual when it comes to holidaying and tend to return not only to the same bagno every year but also to the exact spot – which is how summertime friendships are forged between neighboring umbrella spots over the years.
