Beyond the Coast: 3 Garden Restaurants in the Versilia Hinterland
Dinner under the starry sky—right where Tuscan cuisine is at home.
Finding a good seafood meal along the beach promenade requires little guidance. However, if you are looking for authentic Tuscan land cuisine—charcoal-grilled meats, homemade tordelli, fresh garden vegetables, and a welcoming family atmosphere—you need to head slightly inland. Just a few kilometers from the coast, between Camaiore and the surrounding hills, you will find a very different setting.
Up in the hills, the cuisine changes character: it becomes grounded, deeply rooted in local farming traditions, and tuned to a slower rhythm. Most importantly, heading inland offers a chance to escape the coastal summer heat and enjoy cooler evening breezes in quiet garden settings.
Marta and I have selected three restaurants that we regularly and confidently recommend to our guests. Each offers a genuine local experience, and all are less than a 20-minute drive from Petit Hotel.
💡 A practical tip: These places are very popular with locals year-round. If you would like to try one of them during your stay at Petit Hotel, simply speak with us at reception. We will gladly help reserve a table for you and make sure you get a great spot—especially if you prefer dining outdoors in the garden.
